  • The Tabriz rug is one among the most well-known types of Persian rugs which was developed in the city of Tabriz. Tabriz is the capital city of East Azerbaijan provinces situated in the northeast part of Iran. For centuries it has been a rug weaving hub, and one of the main reason for its revenue is due to the export of high-quality rugs to different countries. The city of Tabriz has one of the most diverse displays of designs like Herati, medallion and even 3-D shaped designed rugs. The place’s rug weaving history has played a significant role in the overall development of rich traditions of decorating carpets with vibrant colors and using geometrical shapes and designs to make it look even better. Tabriz For centuries now Tabriz has been the center of business for the manufacturing of rugs. In the subsequent years, the demand of the European companies operating in Tabriz showed that rugs of high quality and design are trendy in their native land. Tabriz rugs had a distinctive elegance in the 19th century, and alongside inspiration from the traditional Iranian designs, they also used innovative designs. They were very colorful in choosing the raw materials as this affect the quality and pricing of the rug directly. These rugs are generally made with cotton and woven with symmetrical knots. The cotton wrap which is used in the manufacturing is very compressed to the point where the back of the rug is very prominent. At times these rugs which have silk fibers are often colorful. Hence they got the general term of being called as the seven-color rug in the local dialect. Tabriz rug Tabriz weavers are amongst the fastest and most skilled weavers throughout Iran. They have a kook to create knots in their rugs, which also has a blade to cut the knots. Using this method a weaver can do up to 12,000 knots a day, counting even the amount of time it takes to pass the wefts through warps twice. In Tabriz, the rugs are defined by the ridge, and the length of each ridge is seven centimeters. Each ridge can have 25 to 70. The elegance and ridge count of a Tabriz rug is different from the rest. The exceptional quality of the Tabriz rugs is not only due to the technical ability of the weavers but also due to the possession of high-quality raw materials like wool which are acquired from sheep in the mountain region of make in the northwest of the province near turkey. In the last decade, expensive materials like tanning wool are also being used in the production of the Tabriz rugs. This has not only helps the local shop owners to grow their business to make more money but has also shown the world as to how the old traditions of Iran still prevail and have a higher stand than anything else.
